So his outfit’s mostly black, like the art of him flying over Asha. But it’s got this kinda shirt under that half cape thing.

Pretend it’s black, and all the stitching’s gold thread. And then the half cape/shoulder/cloak..thing…has constellations. He absolutely has the pointy elf shoe boots, also black, because yes. Who doesn’t need pointy elf shoe boots? Pants are just…pants. Black pants. Super exciting.

So his cape and hair are fun. When he’s being magical, it sorta starts at the base of his hair? A really rich yellow, then it fades into a white at the ends. And the cape shows after that? It’s just a sorta vague cape shape, very transparent because it’s made of stardust. And then stardust kinda settles over his freckles? He’s very dramatic 😆 and it’s a very smooth kind of..transformation? I guess you could call it that.

Personality

Now my boy is like Rapunzel-meets-Ariel-meets-Peter Pan-meets-lightbulb. Everything about the “World Below” is absolutely fascinating. He’s easily distracted, a little naive, a bit of a jokester, and a whole lotta “see the best in everyone”. A good contrast to Asha’s “the world is out to hurt me”. He’s gonna learn that earth isn’t what he thought it was, but there’s still good in it. It’s big and broken, but good. Yeah, still good.

Oh also he’s mute. So this is both a stretch of a reference and just something I thought would be neat. He mostly communicates through stardust and sign language. The stardust is a stretch-erence of Mini Maui. Tiny Maui. Idk what he’s called- this guy

Because he makes little scenes to show Asha when he thinks her plan is a terrible idea. …which is most of the time… and he’ll also shoot off little silent fireworks when he’s really excited? As for the sign language…let’s say…they’re gonna rely on some library books for that? They both have to learn.

At first, he doesn’t understand why Asha’s planning to take down the king and queen. They seem like perfectly nice people to him. It’s only after plot that he really understands.

random au that i got smacked with in the skull last night while i was unconscious

it’s about an alternate end of the world in gravity falls due to a parasitic anomaly. the au is mostly about the aftermath, once the anomaly has fully died out. fiddleford put stan in the cryogenic cell in the bunker (they let the shapeshifter out cause it’s not like it’s going to last that long), and stan only wakes up due to ford letting him out after everything. ford was infected early on, but it didn’t have as much of an effect on him due to his time in the multiverse physically affecting him. one of the things the parasite does is sustain its host as long as possible, until the body rots away and becomes unusable, so ford is still alive and well even centuries later. he didn’t rot away because. it literally boils down to him just being built different. ford wears a gas mask because every time he opens his mouth, toxic smoke pours out. not infectious anymore, but could still cause serious harm to stan. fiddleford, after putting stan in stasis, sought out mabel and dipper per stan’s (slightly threatening) request and managed to evacuate them into an alternate dimension. so those three are still alive. stan’s goal is to find the niblings, and ford follows him around and helps out however he can. eventually they end up in the multiverse and that’s where the au really gets started

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.

Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.

It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?

Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.
